One of the complications that immigrants sometimes run into is that they can find it hard to get a job in the United States after moving here. In some cases, this is because they need to have an advanced grasp of English in order to do the job properly, and they simply do not have that yet.
The good news is that this is something that can certainly be improved. In one study, the vast majority of immigrants said that entering English language programs helped to improve their understanding of the language. In fact, 95% of them said that they were able to perform their jobs at a higher level because their English skills had improved.
Furthermore, in just a year’s time, 20% of the immigrants in the program received promotions, 79% said that they were on track for a promotion in the future and 88% of employers confirmed that the increased English skills were helping the workers be more productive and do a higher quality of work.
A complicated process
When considering this, it’s important to note that immigrating to the U.S. can be complicated. People are trying to make sure that they have the right legal status. They’re trying to find somewhere to live. They may be seeking ways to bring family members to the U.S. with them. Finding a job is also very high on the list if they want to be able to pay rent and take care of other expenses. Learning English is a significant part of this.
With all of that in mind, you can see just how important it is to understand what legal steps you need to take. Having experienced guidance can make this process go smoothly so you can work toward the best possible future for you and your family.
